About BIHNS

OUR MISSION

The mission of Bring It Home Northshore is to provide recreational and educational support to children of military personal in our local community.

When most people think of the word “deployment,” images of men and women in fatigues or giant tanks and planes usually come to mind. What comes to mind for the Board Members of Bring It Home Northshore is military spouses and children eating dinner without their loved one, saying their evening prayers to keep their loved one safe, spending holidays wishing their spouse or parent could be home to celebrate as a whole family. That is the foundation of our existence.

ALL-VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION

Bring It Home Northshore (BIHNS) was founded in October 2013 with the goal of alleviating some of the stress created during deployments and boost the morale of the families by providing children of deployed military with recreational activities to hopefully put a smile on a child’s face, keep them busy and out of trouble, and have experiences that they may not have been able to have while their parent(s) was deployed. Since the launch of our Recreational Support Program in January 2014, BIHNS has provided support to nearly 100 military children and their families through 40 deployments. BIHNS has provided children with rock climbing memberships, hunting trips, fishing trips, paid for recreational soccer league dues, movie theater tickets, Audubon Institute annual memberships, and tickets for Disney on Ice and Teddy Bear Tea just to name a few. In addition, we host a “Family Day” event for all currently enrolled families to enjoy together. The goal is to help the families connect with other families in similar situations and expand their support system.

Bring It Home Northshore is an all-volunteer organization and is funded solely by donations, grants, and our two annual fundraisers.

RECREATIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAM

We are always accepting applications for our Recreational Support Program! The application process is quick and easy and anyone can apply on behalf of the family they wish to enroll in the program.
